High Volume Finishers to Blast Out Your Chest

Pushups are often over looked when putting together a good chest day routine.  By adding high volume pushups at the end of a workout can really push chest development to new heights.  The most important key to these high volume pushups is slowing the eccentric.  By doing this you force more time under tension.  The ultimate goal when adding high volume pushups is to push them to failure.

 

Here is what you do:

Start off with 5-10, 3 second, slow eccentric pushups.  After completion quickly hit 10-20 normal pushups.

High volume pushups can also be used as a tool to challenge your friends. 

The way we like to do it is by setting up in a circle and starting off with a set number of pushups, for this demonstration lets say ten.  After on person completes his ten, the next person will start their ten.  After everyone has done ten, the person who started adds five more and does fifteen.  This continues until a specific number is reached.  My advice is to shoot for a number that is high and forces the group to have to go to failure reaching.

 

Adding these at the end of your workout delivers great results.
